My degree solidified my love for learning and problem solving, something the role of a patent attorney delivers in abundance. This role perfectly combines my academic and professional interests. I can constantly learn about new technologies, while striving to find the optimal solution for obtaining the broadest possible protection for our clients.

I enjoy the broad range of cases I work on, in terms of clients (from those filing their first patent application to international companies with extensive portfolios, as well as agency cases), technology (from solder alloys to engine exhaust catalysts to drug delivery formulations) and the timeline of the application (from drafting and prosecution to oppositions and freedom to operate opinions).

I also enjoy that every day is a chance to further my experience and improve my practice. I adapt quickly to our clients’ needs and goals, while providing appropriate and strategic guidance where required.

I am always keen to support the next generation of patent specialists, having given presentations and assisted with the running of Boult’s open day and vacation scheme.

Recent experience

Assisting in drafting a number of new patent specifications for new inventions relating to similar technology, including liaising with both in-house teams and the inventors, and returning the drafts in response to urgent deadlines.

Assisting in the management of a large patent portfolio, including applications in many jurisdictions around the world such as Europe, the US, China, Taiwan, Japan, India, Brazil and Korea.

Assisting in preparing and filing third party observations and a related opposition against a client’s competitor’s European patent.

Assisting in a review of freedom to operate search results to determine their relevance to a client’s new product.

Giving an “introduction to patents” talk to employees at a client’s offices.
