Qualifications
  • European Patent Attorney
  • Chartered Patent Attorney
  • Certificate in Intellectual Property Law, Queen Mary University of London
  • MEng Engineering Science, Oxford University

I am a Chartered Patent Attorney and a European Patent Attorney with a background in engineering.

I joined Boult shortly after I completed my degree, which exposed me to a wide range of engineering disciplines. However, my specialisms are AI/ML, robotics, control systems, signal processing, image processing, telecoms, medical devices and optoelectronics.

During my time at university, I undertook a research project focussed on modelling fluorescent concentrator receivers for MIMO VLC applications, a research project focussed on designing a control and sensor system for venous leg ulcer monitoring and a research project involving simulating a rocket landing.

I also completed several summer internships in the automotive industry, working on hybridisation, steering systems, wheels and tyres, custom vehicles and project management and I completed a shadowing period with an in-house patent department.

My role here at Boult allows me to apply my scientific and technical skills, in a commercial context, across a huge variety of projects for my clients. I really enjoy understanding what it is that my clients, big or small, are looking to achieve and then helping them to do just that.

Amongst other things, I prepare, file and prosecute patent applications in the UK, Europe and other jurisdictions around the world. I have a particular interest in assisting my clients to obtain patents in technology areas that are at the edge of patentable/excluded subject-matter, such as machine learning algorithms, presentations of information and business methods.

Recent experience

Drafting patent applications for a number of SMEs, including patent applications related to different aspects of machine learning.

Prosecuting a patent portfolio related to autonomous and semi-autonomous road vehicles.

Prosecuting a patent portfolio related to financial technology.

Hosting patent education seminars for a variety of clients and on a variety of topics, including providing specialist patent education seminars for AL/ML inventions.
