As the head of the trade mark team at Boult, I am heavily involved in client management and group management. I have extensive experience in all aspects of brand selection, protection, enforcement and portfolio management, with particular expertise in clearance searching.

Throughout my career, I have focused on the pharmaceuticals industry and I am an active member of PTMG (Pharmaceutical Trade Marks Group). I have also had the opportunity to work with businesses in a wide range of sectors, including but by no means limited to finance, technology, retail, food and beverage, music and publishing.

The diversity of sectors is both challenging and rewarding. Whatever the industry, my main aim is always the same: to help clients succeed and achieve their business goals. For instance, I have been working with one of my clients, a mobile phone technology company, for over ten years, from company inception. IP is so important when establishing a new brand, and indeed to help guard its success, and I am proud to have helped protect and grow this, and many other, trade mark portfolios successfully.

Boult has a friendly but professional environment that celebrates differences and values the contributions individuals make. I am proud to be part of this firm.

Recent experience

Managing a major retail brand portfolio: assisting with strategic commercial issues, handling rights enforcement around the world to protect against confusion and dilution of its brand name, including through trade mark watching and oppositions, managing its large and growing trade mark portfolio including prosecuting new applications in territories worldwide.

Managing a retail client’s portfolio in response to various strategic commercial issues, including handling rights enforcement through trade mark watching and oppositions, and managing its international trade mark portfolio.

Overseeing a serious, fact-heavy dispute between two religious organisations regarding the use of a trade mark that each claimed to be their own.

Handling significant oppositions for a large pharmaceutical client involving settlement negotiations at a worldwide level.
