After completing my engineering Masters degree, I worked as a Software Engineer in the telecoms sector for two years. Having gained much experience in the industry, I sought a new challenge and retrained as a Patent Attorney.
I appreciate the variety of technology in different scientific fields that my role affords. On a daily basis, I am required to get up to speed with new developments in different sectors. I also need to keep up with the relevant law, which is an area that is constantly evolving. All this means that I have to be adept at picking up new concepts very quickly and, as a result, I never tire of the work that I do.
As a Patent Attorney, I am responsible for the preparation, filing and prosecution of patent and registered design applications at the UK, European and World Intellectual Property Offices. I also regularly represent clients at Oral Proceedings before the Examining Division and Board of Appeal of the European Patent Office. I have also developed key skills in advising on infringement, validity and freedom to operate issues.
Thanks to my academic and industry background, I have experience across a range of products and technologies, including network management systems, provisioning solutions and software applications. My prior experience in industry means I am well placed to advise clients operating in software and telecommunications sectors on the commercial considerations associated with new products.
