I studied English at university, but was drawn to a career in trade marks by family members in the industry. After a period as a Paralegal, I joined Boult as a Trade Mark Assistant.
Day-to-day, I undertake a broad range of activities for our clients, right across the trade mark lifecycle. My work covers everything from searches to filing, to objections, registering, to all forms of maintenance including renewals and recordals. I also provide post application support, such as watch services for infringements and dealing with third parties as required.
I have also had experience supporting on contentious matters, particularly overcoming objections during applications, and on oppositions that can arise during publications. The strategic aspect of considering different approaches and advising the client on the best way on how to obtain a trade mark, or to defend it, is a really rewarding challenge.
For me, the opportunity to work with high profile, international firms in support of renowned brands and helping with the management of their portfolios is really exciting. Equally, I enjoy supporting smaller companies who are starting off their journey, and having an impact on the growth of their brand.
