I’m a Chartered Patent Attorney and a European Patent Attorney and I advise clients across a wide range of multidisciplinary technical fields from semiconductor devices through to automotive applications.

Coming from a general engineering background, I work across a variety of technical fields including mechanical engineering, control engineering and electrical/electronic engineering. Many technologies such as medical devices, scientific equipment, communications and construction machinery draw on a range of disciplines. In particular, my multidisciplinary background is well suited to advising the client where the invention sits at the interface between a computer, electronics, machine learning and hardware.

Before I became a Patent Attorney, my doctoral research at Cambridge University involved developing thin film metal oxides for applications including transistors and solar cells. A theme throughout my PhD was identifying commercial applications for the semiconductor materials developed. Therefore, taking time to understand the commercial objectives behind each patent filing is important to me.

I work with a range of different clients from small start-ups to large multinational companies. I particularly enjoy being involved with clients seeking to grow their patent portfolio. It’s exciting to work with a client to understand their objectives and help them develop a patent filing strategy. As a patent portfolio grows and becomes more diverse, the breadth of knowledge across our firm allows us to ensure we always have the technical expertise on hand to meet our client’s needs.

Recent experience

Assisting a client with managing its patent portfolio including providing strategic advice and prosecuting applications in multiple jurisdictions.

Acting for a client in Opposition and Appeal proceedings before the European Patent Office in order to successfully revoke a suite of European patents.

Acting for a client to draft a range of a UK and European patent applications covering new developments in its technology.
