I‘m a Patent Attorney, working across a wide range of technologies including everything from scientific instruments, to semiconductor devices, to electrical vehicles.
I work with clients ranging from start-ups to large multinational companies, and I particularly enjoy being involved with inventors from the first steps of the patent process. A highlight of my role is that it enables me to continuously learn about cutting-edge technologies. I also love interacting directly with clients, helping them to articulate their inventions and translate innovation into intellectual property.
Before I joined Boult, my doctoral research at the Cavendish Laboratory in Cambridge investigated the use of fluid-suspended magnetic microparticles to create a multi-channel tag. I chose to do an industrially-funded PhD, so that I could see the technical aspects of my degree applied to real world applications. This introduction into the commercial aspects of research from the perspective of the scientist led me to consider a career in intellectual property, allowing me to combine my interests in science and innovation with communication.
I am a regular speaker at industry events, including for the IoP Women In Physics committee events at Royal Holloway, University of London.
