I joined Boult following a prolonged period working in-house with Jaguar Land Rover. My academic background is in law, and I hold an LLB from Queen Mary University of London, and Buckinghamshire New University. For me, IP is subject to a great deal of change and development, particularly as technology and science develop. It’s a fascinating area of law, and having decided to focus on it, I became a Trade Mark Attorney here at Boult.

I have long-standing experience in trade mark searches, filing and prosecuting trade mark applications, assisting clients with domain name issues and design protection. I work with a variety of clients in diverse sectors such as hospitality, consumer goods, retail, beauty, and wide range of media. For me, that variety of work is one of the highlights of my work.

In particular, I am adept at conducting clearance searches, advising on filing strategies and on prosecution issues – skills I developed during my time in-house, and which I have built upon with Boult. Such projects are often international in nature, and I have supported clients on their filing strategy in jurisdictions such as the US and Middle East.

Having seen IP law from both the client and law firm side, I believe I am very client conscious. I understand what makes them tick, having handled such matters extensively earlier in my career in-house. I get a real sense of satisfaction out of helping clients realise their vision for a new trade mark: seeing a new product or brand idea come to life and then protecting their innovation through successful defences against third party claims.

Recent experience

Working with a well-known restaurant group, we successfully challenged a counterfeiter that was undermining the value of the brand. This has helped the client retain its brand position and the customers perception of it being an exclusive brand.

Advising on international filing strategies and prosecution thereof.

Advising on negotiating a co-existence agreement.

Handling a large assignment project to transfer ownership of client’s trade mark portfolio.
