Qualifications
  • Registered UPC Representative
  • European Patent Attorney
  • Chartered Patent Attorney
  • Certificate in Intellectual Property Law, Queen Mary University of London
  • PhD Biochemistry, University of East Anglia/John Innes Centre
  • MA Natural Sciences, University of Cambridge

Having completed my PhD in Biochemistry, I worked at another firm until qualified, and I then joined Boult as a European Patent Attorney.

My work centres on the filing and prosecution of patent applications in the UK, Europe and worldwide. I am particularly interested in how science impacts the everyday lives of people via commercialisation – which patents are central to. Understanding the client’s commercial aims and identifying ways in which intellectual property rights can be used to help them achieve those aims is one of my favourite aspects of my work.

I remain fascinated by biochemistry and science in general and learning about the latest innovations from clients in a variety of industries and technical disciples always intrigues me. I take a great deal of satisfaction from finding creative ways to protect those innovations.

Recent experience

Assisting with due diligence for a complex pharmaceutical biologic product, which has subsequently received marketing approval.

Providing a client with updates on developments in EPO case law concerning clinical trial protocols, orphan drug exclusivity, data exclusivity and market protections.

Coordinating filing and prosecution of pan-European SPC applications based on marketing authorisations obtained via a de-centralised procedure.
