I joined Boult shortly after I completed my engineering degree. My degree was a general engineering degree, and therefore exposed me to a wide range of engineering disciplines. However, I took specialist classes in AI/ML, robotics, control systems, medical devices, signal processing, telecoms and optoelectronics.
During my time at university, I also undertook a research project focussed on modelling fluorescent concentrator receivers for MIMO VLC applications, a research project focussed on designing a sensor system for venous leg ulcer monitoring, and a research project involving simulating a rocket landing.
In the summer vacations between university years, I completed several internships in the automotive industry, working on hybridisation, steering systems, wheels and tyres, custom vehicles and project management. I also completed a shadowing period with an in-house patent department.
I now work at Boult. My role allows me to apply my scientific and technical skills, in a commercial context, across a huge variety project for my clients. I really enjoy understanding what it is that my clients, big or small, are looking to achieve, and then helping them do just that.
Amongst other things, I undertake the preparation, filing and prosecution of patent applications in the UK, Europe and other jurisdictions around the world.
