  • Certificate in Intellectual Property Law, Queen Mary University of London
  • MEng Engineering Science, Oxford University

I joined Boult shortly after I completed my engineering degree. My engineering degree was a general engineering degree, and therefore exposed me to a wide range of engineering disciplines. However, I took specialist classes in AI/ML, robotics, control systems, medical devices, signal processing, telecoms and optoelectronics.

During my time at university, I also undertook a research project focussed on modelling fluorescent concentrator receivers for MIMO VLC applications, a research project focussed on designing a sensor system for venous leg ulcer monitoring, and a research project involving simulating a rocket landing.

In the summer vacations between university years, I completed several internships in the automotive industry, working on hybridisation, steering systems, wheels and tyres, custom vehicles and project management. I also completed a shadowing period with an in-house patent department.

I now work at Boult, and I am a member of our AI specialist team. My role allows me to apply my scientific and technical skills, in a commercial context, across a huge variety project for my clients. I really enjoy understanding what it is that my clients, big or small, are looking to achieve, and then helping them do just that.

Amongst other things, I undertake the preparation, filing and prosecution of patent applications in the UK, Europe and other jurisdictions around the world.

I was awarded The Michael Jones Prize in recognition of achieving the highest mark in the FD3 professional examination testing skills in amendment of specifications.

Recent experience

Assisting in the drafting of UK patent applications for a number of SMEs, and in the drafting of European patent applications for securing AI systems.

Assisting in the prosecution of a patent portfolio related to autonomous and semi-autonomous road vehicles. In addition, assisting in the prosecution of a patent portfolio in the aerospace sector.
