My first insight into the patent profession came when undertaking an internship at an IP firm before commencing the final year of my Masters in Biochemistry. The opportunity to work on a breadth of emerging biotechnology at an intricate level was hard to beat. Moreover, applying my problem-solving skills to commercial innovations felt so rewarding in comparison with laboratory research.
I joined Boult after three years at another IP firm where I gained significant experience of European patent prosecution and opposition in the biotechnology sector, with additional involvement in drafting, portfolio management, third-party monitoring and freedom to operate (FTO) analysis.
I enjoy working with clients to build-up global patent portfolios for pharmaceutical products, from the initial pre-clinical data right through to final formulations and dosage regimens. I have particular expertise in the areas of antibodies, immunotherapies, diagnostic assays, peptide and small molecule drugs and recombinant gene expression.
