I am an engineer by background, and at Boult I have had the pleasure of working with colleagues who come from similar scientific and technical backgrounds. We understand each other extremely well, which I believe is one reason why Boult continues to be so successful.

I was very fortunate to inherit a well-established management team when I joined the firm; they all know how to run their departments brilliantly well. I see myself as a positive go-to person and am extremely grateful for the team’s support in making sure that we achieve the firm’s goals in the best possible way.

There are three things that I’m particularly proud of during my tenure. One is the continued success and resultant profitability of the firm so that we can continue to look after our staff well. The second is the way in which we operate as a single firm that is also a great place to work; the management team and partners work hard to preserve Boult’s culture and retain our „can do“ collegiate style of working. Thirdly, I’m genuinely proud of how all our staff were so well looked after during the pandemic and believe we are an even better and stronger firm as a result.

I like to tell people that we’re more than just an IP firm. We are also a responsible business that offers more than just traditional training and development; we have a broader set of activities, such as staff welfare support, that builds upon our culture. External initiatives include our partnership with the Sutton Trust, with two programmes for sixth formers, and our graduate vacation scheme. We also have a focus on environmental and social issues.

I’m also proud to have signed the IPInclusive Senior Leaders‘ Pledge. We were one of the first IP firms to have a female senior partner, among the first to have a female managing partner, and over half our staff are women – currently 52%. We are driving hard for Boult to be diverse and inclusive and ensure that we create an environment where everyone feels supported.

We have been ranked number one in the various IP rankings for many years and I hope that we are able to continue to achieve this. As a leading European IP firm, we look forward to our ongoing organic growth in Europe, and in the UK, and in further developing our already strong relationships with clients.
