I am a German Patent Attorney and a European Patent Attorney. German and European trade mark proceedings cover another significant aspect of my professional work. I am a founding member of Boult’s growing German patent practice, though I also work regularly with – and immensely enjoy – collaborating with our colleagues in London both virtually and in person.

As a graduate in applied geophysics, I am used to working across disciplines. It is that variety in day-to-day activities that drew me to the patent attorney profession and keeps me engaged with it. I work for a range of our firm’s international clients from small to large enterprises and, of course, German small and medium enterprises (Mittelstand), which constitute the backbone of the German economy and are considered to be the key drivers of innovation.

My role allows me not only to work in diverse technical areas, but also requires me to combine my technical knowledge with legal principles and align all this with my client’s business model. I enjoy being part of this process by helping to identify, to create and to shape my client’s intellectual property accordingly. The profession entails that I am among the first individuals who hear about new developments, which always catch my enthusiasm.

I am proud to be able to advise on all registered IP rights on both a national and European level, and providing that specialist knowledge to my clients in a commercially aware manner is something I really enjoy. The cohesive nature of Boult’s practices and international model means I can always leverage the wider knowledge of colleagues and provide the best set of skills for a client, whatever their IP needs.

Recent experience

Advising an early-stage tech company in IP matters.

Participating in the defence of a client against alleged infringement claims and the preparation of a nullity action before the German Federal Patent Court.
